Howdy list, Just thought I'd post this description of the lockups I've been experiencing and ask if anyone else is experiencing the same thing? If I attach my usb 2.5" 32Gb USB->ATAPI hard disk to my IBM Thinkpad A30p running 5.2-BETA and do a dump of my 16G (used) /usr slice to the external drive then my machine will lock up after transfering about 1 or 2 gigs of compressed data to the external drive. Also, I experience a similar lock up if I let the machine sit for a few hours doing nothing. This didn't happen under FreeBSD 5.1-RELEASE. I'll try to do some testing with a serial console later today and see if I can get a backtrace with the software watchdog when the system locks. All of my previous lockups have occurred while I was looking at KDE, so I don't know if the machine is hard locking or panicing. Just an FYI at this point... -- Jesse Guardiani, Systems Administrator WingNET Internet Services, P.O. Box 2605 // Cleveland, TN 37320-2605 423-559-LINK (v) 423-559-5145 (f) http://www.wingnet.net
