FreeBSD won't run on the powerpc, that's why it doesn't say "powermac" or anything like that on the website.. FreeBSD only supports the Alpha and the x86, with a SPARC port in the works. NetBSD however does support powerpc chips on various platforms, so check out www.netbsd.org. ================================================================= | Kenneth Culver | FreeBSD: The best NT upgrade | | Unix Systems Administrator | ICQ #: 24767726 | | and student at The | AIM: muythaibxr | | The University of Maryland, | Website: (Under Construction) | | College Park. | http://www.wam.umd.edu/~culverk/| ================================================================= On Sat, 14 Oct 2000, Greg T wrote: > hello. > i was wondering if their is a ppc compatible version of freebsd. > it said pentium on the web-site, but i was hoping they might have > something...or something in the works. > since mac osx is bsd/mach based kernel...i was intersted in learning bsd. > thanx for your time. > --darksyyyde@hotmail.com-- > _________________________________________________________________________ > Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com. > > Share information about yourself, create your own public profile at > http://profiles.msn.com. > > > > To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org > with "unsubscribe freebsd-questions" in the body of the message > To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-questions" in the body of the message
