I know.  Maybe we'll decide to just leave it out (by default) if we
can't get our acts together on it in the next 10 days or so, we'll
just have to see.

Because 3.0 is close to becoming mythical at this point and we needed
to set a hard-and-fast date or see it slip into late '99 sometime.
