Ouch. ever since then it has had problems, I replaced the maxtor (it was master) with an NEC 2.0gb and its GREAT, runs like a ROCKET, but the Maxtor still screws up, even after 'newfs'ing the drive. I wish there was something like 'scandisk' that did a sector-by-sector scan.. fsck is just for the FAT basically, so its useless unless you kicked your computer when it was reading the fat...
