Considering that the RPI costs about $50 and a Mac Mini is $600, I'd say the RPi is a a lot of computer for the price. It's 1/10 the cost for 1/4 the speed. But I'd still prefer the Mac for this application. Life is too short, etc. On the other hand, I'm planning to put a PoultryCam out in the chicken coop, and the RPi is perfect for that.
