After an upgrade to 12.2-RELEASE that setup was being ignored and I was able to figure out that it is now using libinput on X11. Tapping did not work as described in this bug report. I was having much difficulty making my old setup work. However, the workaround with "Tapping" and "ClickMethod" worked.
