Ok, well my ad0 is a Western digital HD but I have notice that its spin = down some times. The strange thing is that I did not see this message when I = used 5.1-Current so that is what spooked me. - Tom -----Original Message----- From: owner-freebsd-current@freebsd.org [mailto:owner-freebsd-current@freebsd.org] On Behalf Of Dag-Erling = Sm=F8rgrav Sent: 1. februar 2004 02:01 To: Tom Jensen Cc: freebsd-current@freebsd.org Subject: Re: ad0: TIMEOUT "Tom Jensen" <tom@motd.dk> writes: > I found this timeout in my dmesg log: > > ad0: TIMEOUT - WRITE_DMA retrying (2 retries left) LBA=3D447 > ad0: TIMEOUT - WRITE_DMA retrying (2 retries left) LBA=3D6718175 > ad0: TIMEOUT - READ_DMA retrying (2 retries left) LBA=3D3045111 > ad0: TIMEOUT - WRITE_DMA retrying (2 retries left) LBA=3D13869215 > > Is this a bug? Probably not. Is ad0 by any chance an IBM DTTA or DTLA drive? They = have a nasty habit of spinning down to recalibrate every 25 hours or so, and = you'll get timeouts while they're busy doing that.
