Ok, I will comment on performance.  8)  This is a terrible old card, but 
it ought to work, and making it work ought to have been easy.  I guess 
this is what I get for trying to get stuff done with old hardware. 8)

At any rate, now that I have the array configured I should be OK.  With 
any luck I won't toast it...
