In your situation sendmail is not needed at all.  You should disable it
in /etc/rc.conf (sendmail_enable="NO")

Your computer must have been connected to the Internet and some spammer
running a port scanner found your sendmail.  He's probably trying every
possible user name and that's why you see so many messages.
