The build will be quicker, yes, but the "binary"....if you mean the
kernel binary, no, its size will be unchanged.  However, all the smaller
*.ko binaries will not be rebuilt.

This is normally fine if you're just changing the kernel, and
recompiling it.  However, if you do a cvsup upgrade, then you really
should rebuild all kernel modules to keep them in sync with the reset of
the OS.
