should we add a comment to contrib.sgml that says to keep the list
sorted by last name?

also, what is the sorting order of O'something names?  we have an
O'Brien that is sorted with the O's.. and we have a O'Callaghan sorted
with the C's..

if someone gives me guidance... I'll do the commit...
