E.g., I have a mirror of two SSDs from different vendors. One is 100% stable, the other does the disappearing act at random intervals of time. Actually, recently I replaced the problematic SSD with a new one from yet another vendor, it's 100% stable. If I had to make a guess, then I'd bet on the problem being related to TRIM.
