Hi, I have a LAN connected to a router connected to the cable modem. I just changed from using DSL with an ISP that didn't care about reverse DNS, etc. to Cox with a cable modem. Cox assigned an IP address, a host name, and domain among other things. How should all this be configured to work with FreeBSD and sendmail? Note: FreeBSD and sendmail worked with the old ISP because of their lack of configuration. Because of the DNS problems, it didn't matter what host name or domain I chose. They never made it into name tables anyway. If things looked valid, sendmail worked, but I couldn't send mail to the FreeBSD mailing lists or anyone at freebsd.org (that's a very heavy hand and with the proliferation of these lowest common user semi-rogue ISPs, there will probably be fewer people trying FreeBSD). The ISP's attitude was, "If you don't like our service, find another." Thanks, Rich To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-questions" in the body of the message
