 Is is possible to just `plop' these changes on to a 4.1-RELEASE
 tree (i.e. are they isolated enough where that's something reasonable
 to test.)

 I don't have the best network connectivity (again) and can't download
 4.1.1-RELEASE... so, I was hoping that perhaps I could just patch
 up a file or two to try this out...
