hallo
now that i've had so much luck with my last reported bug (cat /proc/0/regs ->
which was fixed before i send it) another try - sometimes get get problems
with xdm - here is what i've mailed to jordan some weeks ago:
* the system sometime crashes when i login via xdm - this only happens via xdm
not via console and not if i login as root and su - to me - then i login in
via one of the last wo ways and logout - the following xdm login will
definitely NOT crash (i think because my homedir is then mounted via amd) - it
will also not crash if root log's in (homedir local) - and it crashes only
sometimes - no special rule when - here's what messages says:

earlier it also said

this happens since i try the new snaps (or FreeBSD in general at this machine)
-> since the 950210 snap
i tried to debug the kernel core - but a backtrace gives nothing (only one
line with a ? inside) - here is what the nfs-server (where my homedir comes
from- it's a dec alpha with osf/1 - pardon Digital UNIX 3.0) says at the same
time
pr 24 19:42:21 sirius vmunix: NFS server: stale file handle fs(8,2054) file

if you need any further information about this - please mail me - and i'll try
to provide it
... and now another problem - but i think it might also be related to xfree -
here's my report from some weeks ago:
* then i log in via xdm everything works fine - but after some time i can't
open any new window and in xdm-errors i find something like
AUDIT: Thu Feb 9 11:44:17 1995: 111 X: client 9 rejected from IP
130.133.3.235 port 2564
130.133.3.235 it's my machine - it will only start working again if i type
xhost + - why it will stop working after some time - i've never seen this
before on linux or DEC OSF/1 - what does it exactly mean - now i do a xhost +
in the Xsetup but this can't be the right way - i asked in
comp.windows.x.i386unix (or so) but nobody could give me na answer
that's all - thanks in advance - t
