I'll approach the lqr problems as soon as I get a reliable phone line....
or maybe I'll start with a ppp link to another FreeBSD box. The malloc()
problem is top of my list now - not much work really, it's just a matter
(as Joerg also pointed out) of calling all the signal handlers from the
top-level loop (rather than just the SIGALRM one).
