hacker : someone "geeky" that do it to learn and experiment but
without damaging.
cracker: the same but with the plain intention to damage, destroy, etc.

A cracker is also a person that is producing "warez" ie illegal
versions of software. The term hack can also be used to describe
a "temporary fix" to a program or a small program/script that
does the job but not necesseraly in a good way.
