Hi, I just borrowed a x335 from IBM (http://www.pc.ibm.com/us/eserver/xseries/x335.html) to test it out for a future project. Installing FreeBSD 4.8 was no trouble, but when I tried installing 5.0 and 5.1 a problem arised: The x335 has 1 cable for keyboard, video, mouse (KVM), and because some sort of changes has accured in the boot process between 4.8 and 5.X, the keyboard stops working if you boot with the default "values". My guess is that it has something to do with the transit to ACPI. If I boot with ACPI drivers I get: Jun 17 18:12:10 x335 kernel: atkbdc0: <Keyboard controller (i8042)> port 0x60,0x64 irq 1 on acpi0 Jun 17 18:12:10 x335 kernel: atkbd0: <AT Keyboard> flags 0x1 irq 1 on atkbdc0 Jun 17 18:12:10 x335 kernel: atkbd: unable to set the command byte. Jun 17 18:12:10 x335 kernel: device_probe_and_attach: atkbd0 attach returned 6 Jun 17 18:12:10 x335 kernel: psm0: unable to set the command byte. If I boot without ACPI or in safe mode I get: Jun 17 18:15:14 x335 kernel: atkbdc0: <Keyboard controller (i8042)> at port 0x64,0x60 on isa0 Jun 17 18:15:14 x335 kernel: atkbd0: <AT Keyboard> flags 0x1 irq 1 on atkbdc0 Jun 17 18:15:14 x335 kernel: kbd0 at atkbd0 Jun 17 18:15:14 x335 kernel: psm0: <PS/2 Mouse> irq 12 on atkbdc0 and everything works "fine". Sorry if this is the wrong mailing list to post problems like this, please point me to the right place if it is so.
