A bit unclear on the use of patch.  In this post I
am thinking of the recent procfs patch

After using patch to patch a file in
/usr/src/sys/sys 

-does anything have to be run to compile the patch
or does it just work because it is compiled on the
fly?

-is this were a patch for say sendmail would one
then have to kill the sendmail process, recompile
sendmail and then restart it?
