[-- Attachment #1 --] I'm pleased to announce the release of pchar-1.0, a reimplementation of Van Jacobson's pathchar utility for characterizing the individual hops of a path between two network hosts. pchar works on both IPv4 and IPv6 networks. pchar has been tested on various versions of FreeBSD, Solaris, Linux, and IRIX, with the primary development on FreeBSD and Solaris. pchar is written is C++, primarily using recent versions of gcc, but with some testing also on the SparcWorks C++ compiler. Recent additions to pchar include: IPv6 support, better Linux compatability, a more comprehensive tracefile format, and more options for measurement and analysis. A number of bugs have been fixed as well. More information, as well as downloadable source code, can be found at: http://www.ca.sandia.gov/~bmah/Software/pchar/ Bruce.
