I have heard about a recent research on the so-called "Internet=20 generation". Actually, this label was used to indicate the [LoseBlows]=20 "point-and-click" generation browsing, or rather, surfing the 'Net. Some results of the research: 1) pointing-and-clicking (cf Pavlov) limits thought and, especially,=20 (mental) analytical processes; 2) pointing-and-clicking & surfing reduces concentration; 3) it also reduces memory; 4) people begin not to distinguish important from immaterial information= ,=20 inter alia, as well as reducing their intellectual/critical capacities: = a=20 side-effect of too much (uncritical) surfing. In other words, pointing-and-clicking & surfing the 'Net causes people t= o=20 become (more) stupid. No joke. Ok, many people have always thought (and said) that for ages -- on an=20 empirical basis :-)) But now there seem to be more serious grounds for=20 the argument. Well, it is an important point to consider when bringing u= p=20 children... <half serious> Corollary: Unix (and FreeBSD in particular) is -- and makes people using= =20 it -- really smart ;-)) Intelligenti pauca.
