https://bugs.freebsd.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=193668 Bug ID: 193668 Summary: ports/print/acroread9 DEPRECATED, please adjust the documentation accordingly Product: Documentation Version: Latest Hardware: Any OS: Any Status: Needs Triage Severity: Affects Many People Priority: --- Component: Documentation Assignee: freebsd-doc@FreeBSD.org Reporter: raul.cheleguini@gmail.com Hi there, >From the ports collection, it is not possible to install acroread9 as suggested in Handbook: https://www.freebsd.org/doc/handbook/desktop-viewers.html The port's state is DEPRECATED. Port: print/acroread9 Moved: Date: 2014-08-30 Reason: Deprecated: many security issues are reported and Adobe no longer actively supports Adobe Reader for Unix --- An alternative would be to recommend the ePDFView tool: "ePDFView is a lightweight PDF document viewer that only uses the GTK+ and Poppler libraries. It is currently under development, but already opens most PDF files (even encrypted), save copies of documents, and has support for printing using CUPS." http://freecode.com/projects/epdfview Already in ports collection: ports/graphics/epdfview/ -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.
