Hi, As the subject says, I'm having problems with the 7880 onboard scsi controller. I am running 3.0-CURRENT as of Monday, April 28. I am running an SMP kernel, without the additional CPU's activated. When doing heavy i/o the following messages appear on the console, followed by the machine locking up. I've run with the adapter in both wide/ultra wide mode with the same results. The drives are WD 4.3GB, Single-ended Ultra Fast Wide SCSI-3. The disconnnect option is on. Any ideas on how to approach this problem are greatly appreciated. Thanks, John ps: If this is the 2940 problem, I'll be more than happy to test any patches. These are typed in by hand so any typos are mine. ------------------------------------------------------------------ sd1: SCB 0x1 - timed out in message out phase, SCSISIGI == 0xb6 SEQADDR = 0x47 SCSISEQ = 0x12 SSTAT0 = 0x7 SSTAT1 = 0x3 sd1: abort message in buffer sd1: SCB 0 - Abort Completed sd1: no longer in timeout sd1: SCB 0xd - timed out while idle, LASTPHASE == 0x1, SCSISIGI = 0x0 SEQADDR = 0xd SCSISEQ = 0x12 SSTAT0 = 0x5 SSTAT1 = 0x2 sd1: Queueing an Abort SCB sd1: Abort Message Sent sd1: SCB 0x0 - timed out in message out phase, SCSISIGI == 0xb6 SEQADDR = 0x47 SCSISEQ = 0x12 SSTAT0 = 0x7 SSTAT1 = 0x3 The above sequence repeats many times.
