So that I can get a feel for the expectations on quality of product=85

You say the cleanest parts of bsdinstall are in C.

What makes the sh parts unclean? Not looking for any particular answer=85 j=
ust want your opinion.

I've been working very hard to produce a heavy-lifting "dialog.subr" (see b=
ase/head/usr.sbin/bsdconfig/share/dialog.subr) which makes dialog(1) work v=
ery nice and clean in sh(1). However, this may not be your concern, and you=
 may instead have some other "cleanliness" insight that I can address in my=
 work.
