This is likely to be what the problem is. Looks like your serial
chip isn't behaving as expected.

I don't know much about the model numbers of these chips I'm afraid,
but from what you've already found out, it looks like it isn't in the
``works for'' list :-/

I've re-subjected this message in the hope that someone more
knowledgeable than me can comment. FWIW, the -current version of
sio.c only boasts supporting up to the NS16550AF UART too.
