The experiments on FreeBSD were through a powered hub, the
experiments on RasPiOS were direct connected. On RasPiOS
the host was a Pi4, so in principle a hub shouldn't be
needed, at least for a small load like the usb-microSD
adapter or the FTDI usb-serial adapter.
