John,
I have a similar message that is generated while running wine on
FreeBSD-Stable built on Feb 7.  Here is the output:

	ld-elf.so.1: assert failed: /usr/src/libexec/rtld-elf/lockdflt.c:54 

Would this be related to the threads portion that is still being worked
on?  I ask because I also get a message saying "Abort trap (core
dumped)" but part of the program keeps running.
