FreeBSD 4 won't run in 64-bit mode.  You'll have to run FreeBSD 5 or
6.

I would.  Performance is likely to be better (especially with the
soon-to-come thread library improvements).  It's more work, though.

Beware that -CURRENT snapshots between 2005/02/16 and 2005/02/24 will
be very unstable due to a VM bug which was fixed yesterday.  A
snapshot built from today's sources should be fine.
