Performance is likely to be better (especially with the soon-to-come thread library improvements). It's more work, though. Beware that -CURRENT snapshots between 2005/02/16 and 2005/02/24 will be very unstable due to a VM bug which was fixed yesterday. A snapshot built from today's sources should be fine.
