You state 'But it keeps saying that /dev/cual0 device not configured' /dev/cual0 is the correct device to use in your ppp.conf for the ltmdm port. To determine if your FBSD system is using the ltmdm port and that it found your winmodem you should see something like the following in your boot log at /var/run/dmesg.boot. ltmdm0: <Lucent Winmodem> port 0xe800-0xe8ff,0xecb8-0xecbf mem 0xf8ffec00-0xf8ffecff irq 11 at device 8.0 on pci8 ltmdm0: could not map interrupt in non-shareable mode. ltmdm0: could not activate interrupt in fast mode ltmdm0: type Virtual 16550A If you do not have this in your boot log them the ltmdm port does not recognize your winmodem as an Lucent winmodem it can work with. All you can do at this point is deinstall the ltmdm port and get an external modem. -----Original Message----- From: owner-freebsd-questions@FreeBSD.ORG [mailto:owner-freebsd-questions@FreeBSD.ORG]On Behalf Of Kal Torak Sent: Saturday, May 11, 2002 9:21 AM To: FreeBSD Questions Subject: Re: "win" modems.. anyway at all to use them? > >>Its a luncent modem in a ThinkPad I that I want to use... I tried the ltmdm port a few people suggested... But it keeps saying that /dev/cual0 device not configured.. The kernel module is loaded and the devices exist... What port is this luncent LT modem supposed to be on anyway? Im going to recompile my kernel with some extra comm ports and try that.. But anyone know? com2, 3 or 4?
