Out of curiosity (and because I must have missed the original 
discussion), is there a reason the port is based on 3.2.x rather than 3.3.x?

I would have though that the vastly improved classloading scheme alone 
would have made it worthwhile, even if 3.3 wasn't the offical stable 3.x 
  version.
