Well, I don't have a mitsumi (and I didn't follow the thread closely) but 
I do have an ATAPI Pioneer CD-ROM attached as master on second IDE 
channel (wcd0), and it runs smoothly under 2.1.0R. I have a Shuttle MB, 
486-66, and an 850 MB Conner HDD as master on first IDE (wd0). 

BTW, I came out with this config thinking that it would work better than 
master/slave config on the same channel. Anybody knows if I was right?
