After upgrading (with CVSUP) from 4.6-RC to 4.7-Prerelease, my system is not booting properly any more (bad mergemaster choise ?). In the booting sequence, when it comes at executing the "init" command, the system enters a loop repeating this error message: "init: can't exec getty /usr/ /usr/libexec/getty for port /dev/ttyv1 (and goes on with ttyv2, v3 ... v2, v1, v0, v6 ... non-stop) No such file or directory" Entering with "boot -s" I see that "/usr/libexec/getty" and "/dev/ttyv1 ... vn" are there but that /dev/MAKEDEV is empty (??). What could help to bring it back ? Getting another /dev/MAKEDEV (where from ?) and remaking the devices ?. Reinstalling the whole OS ?, would take quite long as I only have the 4.5-RELEASE CD, BTW: /usr/tmp/etc was overwritten while trying to recover using /stand/sysinstall. Any hints ?
