Unless your a masochist NEVER edit the sendmail.cf file directly. Use the *.mc and *.m4 files provided with the sendmail distribution (in sendmail/cf) to build new sendmail.cf files with the appropriate options and rulesets for your site. Anyone who tells you different is clueless. There is a README file in the cf directory as well as the "Sendmail Installation and Operation Guide" in the doc directory of the sendmail distribution (and also in the FreeBSD cvs repository and source tree). If you need to do anything out of the ordinary you should reference the sendmail bible, also referred to as "The Bat Book": Title: Sendmail (Second Edition) Author: Bryan Costales and Eric Allman Pub: O'Reilly & Associates, Inc.
