Hi, Yesterday I went and got a Motorola VoiceSurfr 56K internal modem PnP ISA Card, ran the setmodem.exe program supplied under DOS to configure the card for COM3, then configured the kernel for COM3 and plugged in the card. COM3 gets recognized okay: sio2 at 0x3e8-0x3ef irq 5 on isa sio2: type 16550A but when it gets to the GUS stuff, I got this: Checking for GUS Plug-n-Play ... Board Vendor ID: MOT15f0 Board Serial Number: 056753c0 oops I didnt find gus gus0 at 0x220 irq 15 drq 7 on isa snd0: <Gravis UltraSound 2.4 (256k)> where I used to get Checking for GUS Plug-n-Play ... Board Vendor ID: GRV0001 Board Serial Number: ffffffff gus0 at 0x220 irq 15 drq 5 flags 0x107 on isa at 0x32c dma 7,5<Gravis PNP (1024k)> at 0x220 irq 15 dma 5,7 I can start fxtv or cat au files to /dev/audio without complaint but I have no sound now. My system is a 3.0-971223-SNAP image. I guess the question is - how do I get the guspnp code to get beyond the motorola pnp card and find the guspnp ? Is this a case where I should try Luigi's sound drivers and pnp code ? Any help appreciated, Bill Rainey ================ cat /dev/sndstat ================================= VoxWare Sound Driver:3.5-alpha15-970902 (Wed Aug 6 22:58:35 PDT 1997 Amancio Hasty@rah.star-gate.com) Config options: Installed drivers: Type 4: Gravis Ultrasound Card config: Gravis Ultrasound at 0x220 irq 15 drq 7 Audio devices: 0: Gravis UltraSound Synth devices: 0: Gravis UltraSound 2.4 (256k) Midi devices: 0: Gravis UltraSound Midi Timers: 0: System clock 1: GUS Mixers: 0: Gravis Ultrasound ======== dmesg output ============================== CPU: Pentium Pro (199.43-MHz 686-class CPU) Origin = "GenuineIntel" Id = 0x616 Stepping=6 Features=0xf9ff<FPU,VME,DE,PSE,TSC,MSR,PAE,MCE,CX8,SEP,MTRR,PGE,MCA,CMOV> real memory = 134217728 (131072K bytes) avail memory = 127897600 (124900K bytes) Probing for devices on PCI bus 0: chip0: <Intel 82371FB PCI to ISA bridge> rev 0x02 on pci0.2.0 bktr0: <BrookTree 848> rev 0x11 int a irq 11 on pci0.6.0 Hauppauge WinCast/TV, Philips NTSC tuner, dbx stereo. fxp0: <Intel EtherExpress Pro 10/100B Ethernet> rev 0x02 int a irq 11 on pci0.10.0 fxp0: Ethernet address 00:a0:c9:8e:ed:19 vga0: <Matrox MGA 2064W graphics accelerator> rev 0x01 int a irq 11 on pci0.12.0 ahc0: <Adaptec 2940 Ultra SCSI host adapter> rev 0x00 int a irq 10 on pci0.14.0 ahc0: aic7880 Wide Channel, SCSI Id=7, 16 SCBs ahc0: waiting for scsi devices to settle scbus0 at ahc0 bus 0 ahc0:A:1: refuses WIDE negotiation.
