I still have this same problem with 4.2-STABLE and 5.0-CURRENT on a Sony Vaio PCG-XG18 laptop with a Yamaha DS-1E (YMF744) chipset. It happens with all linux sound applications (such as realplayer etc.) and is only noticable to me when playing like videos which require the voice and audio to be in sync. It is horribly noticable than. I do not have this problem with my home system on 4.2-STABLE with a SoundBlaster 16PCI (ES1371).
