WOW! Do I ever agree! Problem is, by any measure you or I
would understand, they won't. Another problem is, every
other ISP is flat out lying to them. Finally, there is no
truth in advertizing laws effective here, so if you want to
say "surfing 4 hours a day will keep you from getting AIDS"
- it's okay! (I have heard that surfing 24 hours a day will
reduce your risk!)

As to "watered down" - how can anything be "watered down
where it is a "one of a kind"? Chat Only service is not our
normal service, no one ever said it would be. Frankly, most
if not all, of our customers use their time for something
much more productive, like research or email.

The chat service is targeted at providing 2,000 bps for P20
/ hr - to customers of other ISP's who are used to getting
200-500 bps for P30 /hr. That can hardly be said to be
watered down!

If you are talking about the people who would like to use
the chat service for something other than chatting -
"cheating not chatting" - then they are the ones who are
trying to water down a fair price and I really don't have
any sympanthy for them...

Anyway, enough about that, I already know it is nearly
impossible for people in other countries to understand what
it is like here. They may think they do, but it is much
different being here long term (it took me about six years
to learn that - and sometimes I still revert to American
thinking).

What I am really asking about is not the moral or
intelectual aspects, just the suggestions on a simple
portmaster IP and port filter...

Actually, I am considering just denying the major services,
incoming (from our client to us) ports <2000. Do you think
that would work?
