Maybe we're somehow mislocating the EC? And yes, the direct calls via acpi_conf work. So how's the button press stuff supposed to work? eg, if hit fn-F8/F9 to decrease/increase brightness. Is this supposed to be totally handled by the ACPI code? Or is it handled by acpi_ibm_eventhandler() somehow? -a
