BIND 9 now requires for you to explicitly set the time-to-live value at
the top of the zone file, which can be done by adding the following to
the first line of the file:

$TTL 3600

Also make sure that the opening parentheses for the IN SOA record is on
the same line as the IN SOA record line (ie: no newline or carriage
return).
