Under FreeBSD 2.2.5-RELEASE the system is unstable with random problems. Attempting to start processes whether during boot or post boot, will cause a core dump of the process. Processes involved vary from apache 1.3, gettys crashing too fast, cc1 core dumping with a signal 10, rlogind core dump on signal 11, xbcomp core dump on signal 10, etc. Some unique messages log entries are listed below: Dec 14 14:48:02 mail /kernel: pid 211 (date), uid 0: exited on signal 11 Dec 14 16:25:38 mail /kernel: pid 4459 (cc1), uid 0: exited on signal 10 (core dumped) Dec 14 19:27:55 dbs /kernel: pid 209 (rlogind), uid 0: exited on signal 11 (core dumped) Dec 15 21:41:09 dbs /kernel: pid 170 (awk), uid 0: exited on signal 6 Dec 15 21:41:46 dbs /kernel: pid 231 (xkbcomp), uid 0: exited on signal 10 (core dumped) Dec 16 00:07:35 dbs /kernel: pid 2194 (gzip), uid 0: exited on signal 10 (core dumped) Dec 16 01:18:14 dbs /kernel: pid 7085 (cc1), uid 0: exited on signal 10 (core dumped) Dec 16 01:41:24 dbs /kernel: pid 9524 (netscape), uid 1000: exited on signal 11 (core dumped) Dec 16 01:45:10 dbs /kernel: pid 172 (httpd), uid 0: exited on signal 10 Dec 16 02:35:12 dbs /kernel: pid 330 (twm), uid 0: exited on signal 10 (core dumped) Dec 16 02:47:22 dbs /kernel: pid 317 (grep), uid 0: exited on signal 10 (core dumped) >How-To-Repeat: Can't reproduce the problem reliably, it just happens when it wants to and sometimes it doesn't.... :( I am going to try 2.2.2-RELEASE to see if that solves the problem. >Fix: >Audit-Trail: >Unformatted:
