FYI, I just tried booting the FreeBSD 8.2-RC1 image (disc1) on a PowerBook G4[1]. This PowerBook has a broken optical drive, so I just dd'ed the image onto a usb memory stick, and booted that from Open Firmware. (Would it be possible to add an Apple boot partition to a usb memory stick so it could boot from the boot menu (option / alt key) on a Mac?) The image did work, I got to the main menu, and could select Fixit, but when I tried "livefs from usb", the installer claimed that there were no USB devices available. Full details on the FreeBSD page[2] for this machine. References: 1) http://sites.google.com/site/tingox/powerbook_g4 2) http://sites.google.com/site/tingox/powerbook_g4_freebsd -- Torfinn
