Have you looked at some of the more common BSD websites, including
- the handbook (www.freebsd.org/handbook)
- daemonnews (www.daemonnews.org)
- the freebsd diary (http://www.freebsddiary.org/)
- the mailing list archives
(http://www.freebsd.org/search/search.html#mailinglists)
I'd start there, and you want to work in stages. First, get the
connection working with your cable modem. After that works, then try
looking up how to setup your computer as a gateway for the other
computers.
Or, spend $75 and buy a simple firewall router from Linksys or
Netgear. It's worth the money and will probably meet your needs.
