I'm not worried about disk space at this point (I purposely made sure I had a boatload free before I started on this). It ends up that I had to add both "src-base" AND "ports-base", as well as having to "cvs -R co www doc ports" otherwise the make failed. There were a few other snafu's too, but worked around them.
