Subject: Can I Turn Off 10base-T Carrier on Linksys LNE100TX?

I have a FreeBSD box connected to a DSL modem. The modem unpredictably loses
sync several times a month. Disconnecting the 10base-T connector from the
modem for 15 seconds fixes the problem, so I suspect turning the carrier off
would accomplish the same thing.

Is there a software way to toggle the carrier? The network card is a Linksys
Etherfast LNE100TX version 4.1 (I also have a 2.0), running the dc driver.
From the message log:

Dec 2 13:57:01 kalamalka /kernel: dc1: <LC82C115 PNIC II 10/100BaseTX> port
0x6300-0x63ff mem 0xe0411000-0xe04110ff irq 10 at device 11.0 on pci0
Dec 2 13:57:01 kalamalka /kernel: dc1: Ethernet address: 00:a0:cc:e5:97:aa
Dec 2 13:57:01 kalamalka /kernel: miibus1: <MII bus> on dc1

This would allow me to write a script to intermittently check the network
and bang on the network card if it appears down. Very useful, since it often
goes down when I'm not home.

Thanks in advance,

-- Richard
