Interesting. Host can look it up:
bash-2.05b$ host mr-chips-.deviantart.com
mr-chips-.deviantart.com has address 69.28.181.43

But the host name is itself invalid. From RFC 1035:

  The labels must follow the rules for ARPANET host names.  They must
  start with a letter, end with a letter or digit, and have as interior
  characters only letters, digits, and hyphen.

My guess is Windows is actually munging it, when it would be better to
return an error.
