If you really want 4.0-RELEASE, have a look at http://www.freebsdmirrors.org/FBSDsites.php3??release=4.0-RELEASE Note that there are quite some local and remote root holes and other bad things in 4.0-RELEASE, so don't _ever_ connect it direct to any public network, without a well configured firewall in place (on a different machine without security holes).
