You might want to add following line to /etc/rc.conf and post the log. wpa_supplicant_flags="-dd -t -f /var/log/wpa_supplicant.log" But, I'd recommend to try and configure the interface without wpa_gui first. If this doesn't work wpa_gui won't help. wpa_gui is just an GUI to configure wpa_supplicant. https://www.freebsd.org/doc/en_US.ISO8859-1/books/handbook/network-wireless.html But, to save time, you might want to change the adapter. Best choice is Intel for client and Atheros for hostap. Ralink is doing well too. For example RT5370 USB dongles work fine for me in 10.3. Available from $20 (amazon) to $3 (aliexpress). # usbconfig -u 0 -a 4 dump_device_desc ugen0.4: <802.11 n WLAN Ralink> at usbus0, cfg=0 md=HOST spd=FULL (12Mbps) pwr=ON (450mA) bLength = 0x0012 bDescriptorType = 0x0001 bcdUSB = 0x0200 bDeviceClass = 0x0000 <Probed by interface class> bDeviceSubClass = 0x0000 bDeviceProtocol = 0x0000 bMaxPacketSize0 = 0x0040 idVendor = 0x148f idProduct = 0x5370 bcdDevice = 0x0101 iManufacturer = 0x0001 <retrieving string failed> iProduct = 0x0002 <retrieving string failed> iSerialNumber = 0x0003 <retrieving string failed> bNumConfigurations = 0x0001 HTH.
