Well, you should certainly try it, but don't count on it: Daniel says that lpt returns only printer status (BTW, this means full 5 bits, right?). What you need is to either write support for the 'byte mode' in lpt, or utilize the nibble mode if your device supports it. See `man ppbus` & friends, and `man lptcontrol`. > -J.
