We only ever experienced the watchdog(8) problem on any of our RealTek cards on FreeBSD-11.x. We have *not* needed to "tune" these cards for watchdog on 12, or 13. The following 2 servers are on 12, and use the same NIC but, as you can see, have 2 different values.
