dump, when built with egcs, creates unreadable backups on alphas. Eg, restore says: #restore -ivf /var/tmp/image Verify tape and initialize maps Tape block size is 32 Tape is not a dump tape When built on an older system, with gcc version 2.7.2.1, things work as expected and usable backups created. I'm fairly certain its egcs itself, because if I create the .o files on a new system (-current as of last friday or so, with egcs as cc) and link the binary on an older system (-current as of mid Jan., gcc as cc), bad backups are created. I've tried backing down to -O0, which doesn't seem to help. Can a toolchain wizzard please look into this?
