First problem: My 3c509 card did not come up in UTP mode as it should have.
It interrupted with:
1 3C5x9 board(s) on ISA found at 0x300
ep0 at 0x300-0x30f irq 10 on isa
ep0: irq 10
ep0: aui/utp[*UTP*] address 00:60:8c:b8:77:84
but then went on to report:
ep0: strange connector type in EEPROM: assuming AUI
and failed to pass traffic over its UTP connection. I fixed this with:
